 The Houston ARMA Chapter strives to provide continuing educational opportunities and continuing professional development opportunities for (RIM) Records and Information Management professionals in our community. The primary objectives are:

  • Advancing professional knowledge and techniques by sharing and exchanging experiences and information related to the field of records administration and information management.
  • Promoting and advancing the improvement of records and information administration and management and related fields through study, education and research.
  • Developing and advancing standards of professional competence in the field of records and information administration and management.

The ARMAdilla
The ARMAdilla is the ARMA Houston Chapter’s bi-monthly newsletter. It contains informative articles, written by Chapter members to share educational information alonge with valued professional insights and experience. The first issue was published in 1967.

 Chapter Monthly Meeting and Educational Presentations
The Houston ARMA Chapter has begun video taping Chapter Meeting presentations to provide members who are unable to attend the monthly meetings.

ARMA International's RIM Self-Assessment

The assessment is not a test, but a self-evaluation tool. It’s based on ARMA International’s Records and Information Management (RIM) Core Competencies, which are designed to give individuals and organizations insight into the skills needed to successfully manage records and information. The assessment covers six domains: business functions, RIM practices, risk management, communications and marketing, information technology, and leadership http://www.arma.org/competencies/indes.cfm

  Certification Programs

A list of available RIM related certification sites with brief descriptions for each program or organization is provided. Individual sites will connect you with more detailed information and information on how to register for these programs. 
 ICRM and Study Group
The ICRM is the certifying organization serving those who wish to pursue becoming Certified Records Managers. The organization provides guidelines, study materials and certification examinations. To learn more about the ICRM go to http://www.icrm.org.
 The Houston ARMA Chapter Library
The ARMA Houston chapter maintains a Library with Books, periodicals, and other published RIM related educational materials for our members  use.  These materials may also be useful to those persons working to achieve CRM certification. If you have any donations or want to recommend new items for the Chapter to purchase, or if you wish to arrange for access to items you would like to borrow or donate, contact Yul Hollingsworth at yhollingsworth@pacotech.com.

ISG – Industry Specific Groups
The needs of Records and Information Management (RIM) professionals are as diverse as the industries they represent. ARMA’s ISG program helps members working in similar industries and facing similar issues connect and network.
RIM Month 
RIM Month celebrates the profession - fostering communication between members of ARMA with state/local government officials and industry RIM professionals by emphasizing the importance and purpose of Records and Information Management.  Proclamations from government officials, often at the highest level, have been obtained to celebrate ARMA Houston RIM Month. Click on the RIM Month link to learn more.
