Topic: Enterprise Content Management
Speaker: Tom Forsyth, CRM
ECM is a set of software-based tools to capture, store, manage, preserve and deliver content within the enterprise. ECM solutions address the entire life cycle of a business record. They enable knowledge workers to declare content as business or organization records. These solutions allow the organization to effectively manage both paper-based and electronic information. Organizations adopt ECM as a way to manage all of their corporate information in a single repository and to be able to retrieve this information from a single interface. This presentation addresses the factors behind ECM adoption and the enabling technologies that comprise an ECM solution and how they relate to the lifecycle stages of a record. It will also offer strategies for the effective deployment of ECM within your organization to ensure that it is meaningfully deployed to solve business problems and to ensure the best results from your ECM initiative. Many of the topics that are covered within this presentation will be helpful to any records manager who is preparing to take Part V of the CRM exam. It will also benefit any organization which is considering the adoption of ECM technology or the expansion of their initial deployment in order to achieve a truly enterprise deployment of ECM.
