ARMA Houston Chapter Meeting

Breaking the Disposition Barrier

Susan Cisco, Ph.D., CRM, FAI
Director, Gimmal

Program Description:

People, process, and technology barriers prevent most organizations from disposing of records with expired retention periods including email and Redundant, Obsolete, Trivial information (ROT). This session will highlight successful case studies for implementing automatic disposition in a pipeline company, a government agency, and a global energy and petrochemical company. It will conclude with a summary of best practices emerging from the case studies that participants can take home to launch their own automatic disposition projects.

Susan Cisco, Director at Gimmal, has 30 years’ experience in the records and information management profession as a practitioner, educator, and consultant. For five years, Cisco was the Records Management Officer for the Oil and Gas Division at the Texas Railroad Commission, one of the most important energy-related regulatory bodies in the U.S.  Dr. Cisco’s seminal work in the application of Big Bucket theory to the classification and retention of records has led to the enhanced usability of ECM systems and optimized user adoption for organizations around the world.  She holds a Master of Library Science degree and a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from the University of Texas at Austin, is a CRM, and a Fellow of ARMA International.
